Declaration (2001) - Certified Gold

Declaration was released September 25, 2001 by Steven Curtis Chapman. It has been certified Gold. The national concert tour that followed featured Nichole Nordeman as the opening act and traveled to over 70 cities in 2002. The tour featured a re-telling of the story of 5 missionaries who were killed by the Auca Indians in 1956 while working in Ecuador. Each night after the story, Steven introduced Steve Saint (son of slain missionary Nate Saint) and Mincaye (an indian who killed the missionaries) as his guests onstage. On Declaration, Mincaye can be heard chanting in his native language at the end of "No Greater Love".

Steven co-wrote "See The Glory" with his son Caleb Chapman.

"When Love Takes You In" was written inspired by Steven's family's experience of adopting their first of three adopted daughters, Shaohannah. Since Declaration, the Chapman family has adopted two more orphan girls from China, Stevey Joy and Maria Sue.
